The modern Service Boot is a culmination of 90 years of experience for . Since founding in 1931, the company has refined and produced the Service Boot for discerning adventurers, workers and sartorialists alike. The uppers are constructed from a single piece of Waxy Commander suede produced by British tannery Charles F. Stead & Co. – a name synonymous with the finest leathers since 1900. Using bovine hide, the suede shrinks up to 25% during the unique CFS technique. The hide is tanned without any pigment – the same way all C.F. Stead leathers are tanned – with natural waxes applied to give the suede a waterproof finish.
The 310 Last was originally crafted in 2007, unifying a classic British climbing boot with a mid-century workboot. Its "sprung toe," which lends the 310 its distinctive shape, had its genesis in the early 1900s to provide a rocking motion for enhanced comfort when traversing in rigid-soled industrial boots.
Viberg boots are made for a lifetime of wear, so a sole which can be repaired, removed and replaced is paramount to ensure that daily wear doesn't cut that experience short. A leather Viberg "Chassis" is secured to the uppers with stitchdown construction and wears a sturdy Ridgeway outsole – which of course can be replaced with wear.
